Visiting from a land far, far away, Billy the Bookworm will be making a special appearance at Crossgates Shopping Centre in celebration of World Book Day.

On Saturday 3rd March, the centre will welcome children and local shoppers to hear Billy reading a range of literary favourites every half an hour between 10am–4pm.

From classics such as the Mr Men series, to the works of much loved authors including David Walliams, Dr Seuss and Beatrix Potter, Billy the Bookworm will bring a day of fun and inspiration to Crossgates Shopping Centre and children in the local community.

Not only will little ones be able to hear their favourite stories, they will also have the chance to win an array of prizes by coming to the centre dressed as their favourite book character.

The following weekend on Saturday 10th March, The Creation Station will be in the centre helping children to make the perfect gifts for mum including, Mother’s Day cards, key rings and beautiful bookmarks.

Centre Manager, Matthew Middleton, commented, “At Crossgates Shopping Centre, we love to bring the community together through family activities.

“Whether it’s Harry Potter or Cinderella the little ones choose to dress up as on World Book Day, we can’t wait promote the joys of reading and help bring the childrens’ favourite stories to life.

“We’re also excited to host a range of craft sessions too, to help kids make the perfect gifts just ahead of Mother’s Day. We’re looking forward to welcoming the local community in the centre for both events.”
